App: VSS Grounding — Therapeutic Flow App

The VSS Grounding app ("we", "us", or "our") is a companion tool for Visual Snow Syndrome built to run entirely on your device. This policy explains what data the app accesses, what it stores locally, and what it never does.

1. No Internet Connection

VSS Grounding does not request internet permission and therefore cannot transmit any data to any server, third party, or external service. All app functionality operates fully offline.

2. Device Permissions Requested

The app requests only the following system permissions:

• VIBRATE — used to drive haptic pulses during therapeutic sessions (e.g. rhythmic vibration patterns). No data is collected.
• HIGH_SAMPLING_RATE_SENSORS — used to read the device accelerometer / gyroscope at high frequency for motion-based grounding exercises. Sensor readings are processed in real time and are never stored or transmitted.

The app does not request camera, microphone, location, contacts, storage, or any other sensitive permissions.

3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The following data is stored exclusively in your device's private app sandbox and is never shared, uploaded, or accessible to us:

• Symptom check-in scores — pre- and post-session self-reported ratings (Visual Snow intensity, Anxiety level, Bother level, each on a 0–10 scale) recorded with an ISO timestamp.
• Session outcome logs — paired before/after scores saved as JSON files in the app's private files directory after each completed session.
• Imported session flows — JSON files you voluntarily import from the Grounding Portal, stored in the app's private files directory.
• Tinnitus calibration settings — your calibrated frequency, tone volume, noise volume, noise type, and notch-filter toggle, stored in SharedPreferences so they persist between app launches.
• Favorites list — the set of session IDs you have starred, stored in SharedPreferences.
• Tutorial seen flag — a single boolean in SharedPreferences recording whether you have completed the onboarding tutorial.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

Retention period: All data lives exclusively on your device and is retained for as long as the app is installed. We hold no centralized records or backups of any kind.

How to delete your data:

• In-app — Delete All Data: Open the About tab and tap Delete in the Data section. After confirming, all session outcomes, saved flows, favorites, and tinnitus calibration are permanently erased.
• Individual flows: Tap Remove on any saved flow card in the library.
• Device settings: Use your device's App Info → Storage → Clear Data / Clear Cache to wipe all app data instantly.
• Uninstalling the app permanently removes all associated data from your device.

5a. Data Export

The Statistics screen offers an Export JSON button that bundles your outcome logs into a single JSON file and opens the Android share sheet. You choose where the file goes — we never receive it. Once exported, the security and privacy of that file are your responsibility.

6. Children's Privacy

VSS Grounding is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

If this policy is updated, the revised version will be published at this URL with an updated effective date. Because the app contains no account system, no in-app notification of policy changes is possible — please check this page periodically.
